Preventative Medicine

Preventative Medicine

Do you want to stay healthy by taking less medicine? If so then research shows that preventative medicine is one of the best ways. The irony is that in many cases literal medicine isn’t used but instead using a holistically healthy lifestyle. Here are some of the best methods:

Diet

Make sure that you’re getting all the vitamins and minerals you need on a daily basis. You could take a multi vitamin but if you eat a wide variety of healthy foods you don’t really need it. Remember that it’s always best to get your vitamins/minerals from natural foods instead of processed ones. That, in turn, will help to keep you as healthy as possible. When you eat the right foods you’ll not only be getting the nutrients you need but also power up your body so you can fight off health conditions and diseases.

Exercise

It’s important to exercise on a regular basis and especially if you sit at work for most of the day. In fact, you don’t have to do a heavy workout every day. What’s most important is to do a mix of cardio exercises and weight-resistance exercises. If you exercise on most days for at least 30 minutes you’ll give yourself an excellent chance to maintain good health. You’ll also be able to enjoy other benefits including higher energy levels.

Antioxidants

You can get antioxidants from various foods like coffee, citrus, and chilies. These foods help to battle free radicals and keep your body as healthy as possible. People often focus on the vitamins and minerals they’re getting from foods and that’s important. However, it’s also important to get other nutrients like antioxidants and fiber to make sure you have a well-balanced diet.

Make sure you’re drinking an average of 6-8 glasses of water every day. The brain is about 90% water and the body is about 60% water. So it’s important to make sure you’re drinking enough H2O. You should also drink more in cases like after workouts or on hot/humid days. What’s most important is to drink whenever you’re thirsty as it’s the body’s way of telling you it’s time to drink. Drinking enough water can help to avoid a lot of health issues like dehydration .

Sleep is important for the body and brain and adults should be getting about 7-8 hours every night. There are times when you can’t get a full night’s sleep but that should be the exception instead of the rule. Make sure that you wake up naturally instead of tools like an alarm clock. If you get enough sleep it can do wonders for helping to prevent various health conditions and diseases. That’s because your body is fully charged and better able to fight off disease.

Stress management is important for maintaining good health and can help to avoid a lot of issues. In fact, stress can affect all sorts of issues including your hair, teeth, stomach, heart, skin, etc. There’s going to be stress in life but it’s important to handle it as effectively as possible.
